I will be visiting Bulgaria for two weeks at the beginning of September and I'm super excited! I have a rough schedule in mind but I'm looking for suggestions on must-see places, hidden gems, and any local tips that could enhance my experience. Should I focus more on the Black Sea coast, or explore the mountains and historical sites? Any recommendations on food and culture are also welcome!

Bulgaria is a fantastic choice with a rich blend of history, culture, and stunning landscapes! If you’re torn between the Black Sea coast and the mountains, I’d suggest a mix—start with the charming coastal towns like Varna or Burgas for some relaxation and beach time, then head to the mountains for hiking in the Rila or Pirin National Parks. Don't miss visiting the Rila Monastery for its breathtaking architecture and history! As for food, try traditional dishes like banitsa (cheese pastry) and shopska salad. What aspects of Bulgarian culture are you most interested in experiencing?

That sounds like an amazing trip! I’d recommend also checking out Plovdiv, which is one of the oldest cities in the world and has a vibrant arts scene. The Roman theater there is a must-see! For a truly local experience, consider visiting a traditional village like Koprivshtitsa, where you can immerse yourself in Bulgarian folklore. Have you thought about attending a festival or local event while you're there? It could be a great way to connect with the culture! 🥳
