Hey all, I'm new to this and planning to drive from Corona, CA to Durham, NC. I've never towed a trailer before, but my SUV can handle up to 7,500 lbs. I'm looking at 20-24 ft trailers since all my stuff is in a 20 ft storage unit. Any tips on towing? What should I look out for, especially as I'm going through a lot right now? Would love your advice!

Welcome to the forum! Towing for the first time can be a bit daunting, but with the right preparation, you’ll do great. Here are a few tips:

1. **Practice**: If possible, find an empty parking lot to practice maneuvering and braking with the trailer before hitting the road.
2. **Weight Distribution**: Make sure your load is balanced in the trailer to avoid swaying. Keep heavier items low and towards the front.
3. **Check your SUV**: Ensure your vehicle's brakes, lights, and tires are in top shape. A pre-trip inspection can save you headaches later.
4. **Plan your route**: Avoid narrow roads and know where you can stop for fuel, as towing can impact your distance between stops.
5. **Take breaks**: Towing can be more tiring, so plan regular breaks to stay refreshed.

How do you feel about the journey? It might be a great chance to discover some new places along the way!
