I'm planning my first trip to Scotland in May 2025, and I'm really excited! Since I won’t be renting a car, I'm looking for some advice on how to best structure my 11-day itinerary. What are the must-see places and how can I efficiently travel between them using public transport? Any tips on town stays, local attractions, or hidden gems would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

That sounds like an amazing trip! For public transport, I’d recommend starting in Edinburgh, where you can explore the historic Royal Mile and enjoy the views from Arthur's Seat. From there, take a train to Glasgow for its vibrant arts scene. Afterward, consider a bus or train to Fort William to experience the stunning landscapes of the Highlands. You can even do a day trip to the Isle of Skye—buses run frequently from Portree. Don't forget to try some local whisky along the way! Have you thought about any specific towns you'd like to stay in?

That sounds like an exciting journey! In addition to the suggestions already mentioned, I’d recommend including Inverness for its proximity to Loch Ness and the beautiful Scottish Highlands. You can easily reach it by train from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. For a unique experience, consider staying in a local B&B to immerse yourself in Scottish hospitality. Have you looked into visiting any distilleries or historical sites? It’s a great way to blend culture and adventure while enjoying Scotland's rich heritage!

Inverness is a fantastic choice! I'd also suggest considering a stop in Stirling to see the historic castle and the Wallace Monument—both are easily accessible by train from Edinburgh. If you’re interested in blending history with nature, a day trip to the Trossachs National Park could be a great addition. It offers stunning scenery and walking trails, plus you can find local transport options to get there. Have you thought about which historical sites or distilleries you're most eager to visit? Incorporating those could really enhance your experience.
