Our trip in Germany starts in the Rhine Valley. We arrive in Frankfurt early morning, and thought it would be a great idea to explore the Rhine Valley right away. We're looking for recommendations on must-visit castles, scenic boat tours, and any hidden gems along the Rhine. Also, any advice on the best time to visit these spots to avoid crowds? Would love to hear your experiences or any tips you might have!

Starting your trip in the Rhine Valley is a fantastic idea! For castles, don’t miss Marksburg Castle—it’s one of the few that’s never been destroyed and offers a real medieval experience. For boat tours, try the stretch between Rüdesheim and St. Goar; the views are stunning, especially during late afternoon when the light hits the vineyards. To dodge crowds, aim for weekdays and avoid peak summer months. Also, consider stopping in Bacharach—it’s a quaint town with half-timbered houses and fewer tourists. What’s your plan for getting around—train or car?

Marksburg Castle and the Rüdesheim to St. Goar boat tour sound like perfect picks! If you're into photography, the late afternoon light on the vineyards is magical. For a quieter experience, Bacharach is a gem—its charm is unmatched. Since you're starting early, maybe consider a mix of train and car? Trains are efficient, but having a car gives you flexibility to explore those hidden spots at your own pace. Have you thought about packing a picnic to enjoy by the river? It’s a great way to soak in the scenery without rushing.
