Question Best Way to Travel from Montenegro to Venice?

My husband and I are staying in Montenegro and then taking a cruise from Venice to Athens. Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to travel from Montenegro to Venice? We're considering flying, but I've heard there are also ferry options. Has anyone taken a ferry from Montenegro to Venice? How was the experience? Also, any tips on what to do in Venice before our cruise would be appreciated!
