We're staying in Portsmouth for a couple of days in May and I'm thinking about taking the hovercraft over to the Isle of Wight. I've heard it's a quick and fun way to get there, but I'm not sure about the best ways to get around once we're on the island. Are there good public transport options, or would renting a car be better? Also, any tips on must-see spots that are easy to reach would be great. Looking forward to your advice!

The hovercraft is indeed a unique and speedy way to reach the Isle of Wight! Once you're there, the island offers a mix of transport options. Public transport, including buses and trains, is reliable and covers most key areas, making it a good choice if you prefer not to drive. However, renting a car could give you more flexibility to explore hidden gems at your own pace. As for must-see spots, the Needles and Osborne House are iconic and well worth a visit. Have you considered combining both transport methods for the best of both worlds?

The hovercraft is a fantastic choice for getting to the Isle of Wight—it's quick and adds a bit of adventure to your trip! Once there, I'd recommend using the island's reliable public transport for convenience, especially if you're sticking to popular spots like The Needles and Osborne House. However, if you're keen on exploring off-the-beaten-path locations, renting a car could be a game-changer. It allows you to discover hidden beaches and quaint villages at your own pace. Have you thought about which areas you're most excited to explore?
