I'm really excited about planning a winter trek in Nepal! I've heard that trekking during this season can be an incredible experience with stunning views of the Himalayas. I'm particularly interested in popular treks like Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, and any others you might recommend. What are your thoughts on trekking in winter? Are there specific routes that are better for winter conditions? Also, any tips for gear or preparation would be super helpful!

Hello Airborne Ava!

I am not sure if you have already visited Nepal last winter or if you are yet to visit. However, I thought to write anyway, as it will also be helpful for people willing to trek in winter.
I have done the Everest Base Camp trek in mid-January. It is possible to do it following the classic trail. At each place, they open at least one lodge. So accommodation is not a problem. Also, having fewer trekkers makes it much nicer.
It hasn't snowed in the last few years during the winter. Winter days are warm and bright with a crisp sky offering the best Himalayan view. Actually number of winter treks has increased significantly in the last couple of years.
Even if it snows, it snows at the beginning and end of the winter. The weather may remain foggy with poor visibility, which may disrupt the flights to Lukla and back.
So I recommend checking the weather and keeping your plan flexible.
The only setback of travelling to winter is the temperature. Temperature drops down to as low as - 15 C (feels like), depending upon the location. Good equipment and preparation to walk in snow at a higher altitude is recommended.

It is the same with the Annapurna Base Camp Trek as well.

Don't plan more strenuous treks like - three pass trek in Everest or the Round Annapurna as the passes might get closed because of heavy snowfall.
