Hey everyone, I'm planning a trip to Mexico and I've read that anything that's not commercially packaged could be inspected or even thrown away at customs. I have to bring some homemade food with me for various reasons. Has anyone successfully brought food into Mexico? What kinds of foods are generally allowed, and do you have any tips on how to pack or present them to avoid issues? Any insights would be super helpful!

Bringing home-cooked food into Mexico can be tricky, but it’s not impossible! Generally, commercially packaged foods are safer, but if you must bring homemade items, consider dry goods like cookies or bread, as they're less likely to raise flags. When packing, ensure everything is sealed tightly and clearly labeled to show what's inside. It might also help to explain your reasons politely at customs. Just be prepared for the possibility that some items might not make it through. Have you checked out the specific customs regulations for Mexico? That could give more clarity on what's allowed.
