Advice Devonshire Cream Substitute Ideas

Fresh clotted cream is extremely difficult to acquire in Canada due to pasteurization laws, however, I really want to recreate that authentic scone experience at home. I've heard about some substitutes like mascarpone or whipped cream, but I’m curious about how close they get to the real thing. Has anyone found a good alternative that works for scones or as a topping for desserts? Any tips or recipes would be greatly appreciated!
