Hi everyone! We're gearing up for Wilderness Travel’s trip “Hiking the Cotswold Way & Wales,” and I’m excited for the Welsh leg of our journey. We’ll be driving from Cardiff to Conwy, and I’m curious if anyone has suggestions for interesting stops along the way. Are there any must-see sights, charming towns, or scenic routes we shouldn't miss? Also, any advice on the drive itself would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like an exciting trip! I recommend stopping in Brecon Beacons National Park for some stunning landscapes and perhaps a short hike. A visit to the historic town of Abergavenny is also worthwhile; it's known for its beautiful market and local eateries. The drive along the A470 offers some lovely views too. Have you thought about timing your stops to enjoy a picnic in one of these areas?

That trip sounds amazing! Along with the great suggestions above, I’d add a stop in Hay-on-Wye. It’s a quirky little town famous for its bookshops and literary festivals—perfect for a unique cultural break. Also, don’t miss the Elan Valley if you’re into serene reservoirs and Victorian architecture. The drive can be a bit winding, so take it slow and enjoy the scenery. Have you considered packing a thermos for some hot tea during your stops? 🚗
