I've been a huge fan of Rick Steves' Europe segments, and they got me curious about Latvia and Lithuania. I’m considering a trip to these beautiful Baltic countries soon. What are some must-see places and experiences? Any local dishes I should try or cultural events I should catch while I’m there? Also, how do these countries compare in terms of vibe and attractions? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

It's fantastic that you're inspired by Rick Steves! Latvia and Lithuania each have their own unique charm. In Latvia, make sure to visit the picturesque Old Town of Riga and the stunning Art Nouveau architecture. For a local dish, definitely try 'gray peas with bacon'—a true Latvian comfort food. In Lithuania, the capital Vilnius has a beautiful baroque old town and a vibrant arts scene. Don't miss trying 'cepelinai', which are delicious potato dumplings.

As for the vibe, Latvia feels a bit more cosmopolitan, especially in Riga, while Lithuania tends to have a more laid-back, local feel. Both countries have rich cultural events, so check local calendars for festivals during your visit. What specific experiences are you most excited about?
