I’m scheduled to take the Hidden Galapagos & Peru trip in May. For those who have been, how difficult or strenuous are the steps at Machu Picchu? I know there are very few handrails - can you even touch the walls as you go up or down? Are the steps similar to the tall ones you encounter getting on a bus, or more like regular house steps? I'm a bit nervous about tackling those at such high elevation since I live at sea level. Any insights or personal experiences would really help ease my mind!
