Question Is Chigwell Part of London?

I recently ordered the TfL 16+ Oyster card for my daughter, and it got me thinking about Chigwell. I know it's in Essex, but I've heard some debates about whether it's considered part of London. Can anyone clarify its status? Also, if anyone has tips for using the Oyster card or traveling in and around Chigwell, I'd appreciate it!

Chigwell is indeed in Essex and not officially part of London, though it's close to the Greater London boundary. This can sometimes cause confusion, especially with transport zones. For your daughter's Oyster card, it's worth noting that Chigwell is in Zone 4, so it's covered for travel into central London. A tip for traveling: always check the TfL website for the latest updates on zones and fares to ensure smooth journeys.
