It was one of the saddest incidents of the 2015 Nepal earthquake. The whole village of Langtang was swept away by an avalanche triggered by the earthquake. About 300 people lost their lives. 100 bodies were never recovered.
The village was never rebuilt, as it is still filled with debris.
However, tourism returned to normalcy within a year of the devastation. There are alternative villages to Langtang to spend a night. I went on a trek at the end of 2015 and in April 2025. Everything is normal, and Langtang is as beautiful as it was. Only thing that doesn't exist is the Langtng Village. Here is a picture of where the Langtang Village used to be.
