Hi everyone! I’m an experienced traveler and have been to Italy four times but always with my husband. This time, I'm planning a solo trip to Ravenna and Florence, and I'm looking for some tips and insights. What should I definitely see in both cities? Any suggestions for local food spots or hidden gems that are perfect for solo travelers? Also, how's the public transport situation between these two cities? Thanks in advance!

How exciting to explore Ravenna and Florence solo! In Ravenna, don't miss the stunning mosaics in the Basilica di San Vitale and the charming atmosphere of the historic center. For a local dining experience, try the classic piadina at a small eatery; it's a must. In Florence, the Uffizi Gallery is a treasure trove of art, and be sure to stroll across the Ponte Vecchio. For food, head to Mercato Centrale for a variety of local flavors. The train between Ravenna and Florence is quite efficient, taking about two hours—perfect for a scenic ride. Have you thought about what you want to experience most in each city?

It sounds like you have an amazing trip ahead! In addition to the suggestions mentioned, I’d recommend visiting the Basilica di Sant'Apollonia in Classe in Ravenna for its beautiful mosaics, and don’t miss the Boboli Gardens in Florence for some peaceful greenery. As for food, try a local trattoria for authentic Tuscan cuisine—nothing beats a good ribollita soup! 🥣 Since you're experienced, have you thought about taking part in any local cooking classes or guided tours? They can be a fantastic way to meet people while immersing yourself in the culture.
