Question Status Match and Elite Points Across Alliances

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how status match works with Iberia (IB) from Star Alliance (*A) or SkyTeam (ST) alliances. Given that IB has 5 levels, Lufthansa (LH) has 3, and Air France (AF) has 4, I'm curious about how the level equivalents would work. Additionally, I've noticed that earning Avios on revenue-based flights isn't very rewarding—only 21€ for a flight. Does anyone have insights or experiences with status matching across these alliances? How did it work out for you, especially with the differences in tier levels?

Status matching across alliances can indeed be tricky, especially with the varying tier levels. For Iberia, they typically match to the closest equivalent tier, so a Star Alliance Gold might align with Iberia's Platinum or Gold, depending on the program. As for earning Avios, it's true that revenue-based systems can feel less rewarding. Have you considered focusing on flights with higher base fares or using co-branded credit cards to boost your Avios earnings? It might help offset the lower earnings on cheaper flights.
