I have a strange ask. I have a horrible reptile phobia. Iguanas really freak me out (and lizards, too). I really want to travel to Mexico but I'm worried about encountering these creatures, especially in more tropical or beach areas. Has anyone else dealt with this? Are there parts of Mexico where reptiles are less common, or any tips on how to avoid them while still enjoying the trip?

Traveling with a reptile phobia can definitely be challenging, but Mexico has so much to offer beyond its tropical areas! Consider exploring cities like Mexico City or San Miguel de Allende—they’re rich in culture, history, and amazing food, with fewer chances of encountering iguanas or lizards. If you’re set on beach destinations, look into resorts with well-maintained grounds, as they tend to manage wildlife more closely. Have you thought about traveling during cooler months when reptiles are less active? That might help ease your worries!
