Does anyone have experience following Rick's advice about using foreign ATMs to get cash when traveling abroad? Specifically, I'm curious about how this works with US credit unions. Are there any fees or issues I should be aware of? I'm planning a trip and want to make sure I'm prepared financially. Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Using foreign ATMs with US credit unions can be a smart move, but it's important to check with your credit union first. Many have partnerships with international banks, which can help you avoid hefty fees. Also, make sure your card has a chip and a 4-digit PIN, as these are widely accepted abroad. Have you confirmed if your credit union offers fee reimbursements for international ATM withdrawals? That could save you a lot!
