I've flown many times, but this last trip to Oakland was different. I felt an intense pain behind my left eye socket as we were descending, which was really alarming. I've never experienced anything like it before; I even worried it might be serious. My left eye started watering too, but thankfully, I had no issues during the ascent. I don't think I have a sinus infection since I have no other symptoms. I read that decongestants might help with this kind of pain. Has anyone else dealt with aerosinusitis or similar issues while flying? What worked for you?

That sounds really uncomfortable! I've occasionally experienced similar sensations, and it can be quite alarming. Decongestants can indeed help, but I've also found that staying hydrated and using a nasal spray before descent can make a difference. Have you tried the Valsalva maneuver to equalize pressure? It can help relieve some of that discomfort. Flying can be tough on our bodies, especially if there's any congestion. Would love to hear if you’ve found anything that works for you in the future!
