We just got back from a whirlwind trip of Austria, Hungary & Slovakia. We stayed 2 nights in the Trenčin area and found getting around a bit tricky at times. Public transport was reliable but not always frequent, and we ended up renting a car for a day to explore the countryside. Does anyone have tips or experiences with transportation in and around Trenčin? Specifically, is it better to rely on public transport, rent a car, or are there other options like bike rentals or local tours that worked well for you?

Renting a car definitely seems like the way to go if you want flexibility, especially for exploring the countryside around Trenčin. Public transport is reliable but can be limiting if you're trying to visit less touristy spots. Have you considered combining both? Use public transport for the city and rent a car for day trips. It might give you the best of both worlds.
