Discussion Watch Out for Pickpockets on Florence's T-1 Tram

I visited Florence yesterday and caught the T-1 tram back to the city center. Unfortunately, I had a close call with a pickpocket! It was really unsettling. I had my backpack on, and just as I thought I was safe, I felt a quick tug. Thankfully, I noticed in time and managed to hold on. Has anyone else encountered issues with pickpockets on public transport in Florence or other Italian cities? What precautions do you take to avoid these situations? Would love to hear your experiences.

That sounds like a nerve-wracking experience! I always make sure to keep my valuables in a crossbody bag with zippers, and I wear it in front of me when I'm on crowded public transport. It's also a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings and avoid using your phone too much in those situations. Have you thought about using a money belt or hidden pouch for extra security?
